I was looking to rent a flat in Madrid and I was very unlucky to have Housfy as real estate agent. It was the most appalling and disgraceful experience in all my life. The most unprofessional and rude people I ever met.I have rented out a flat in May last year during the pandemic, and it was a nightmare since the outset: • When I initially signed the contract they charged me with an additional amount for a content insurance that is illegal as it has to be paid by the landlord and refused to refund me. • The flat was given in awful hygienic conditions and the landlord could not be bothered in removing its personal belongings including dirty pants and matrasses with urine spots. Clearly Housfy did not checked the flat before giving me the keys nor could be bothered in intervening when I called them. • No pictures or inventory list was provided so I had to do it. • Following my remarks about the personal belongings left the landlord proposed me to pack its staff in 20 or 30 boxes (i.e. do the move for him) and keep them in the flat for the renting period. When I refused he said I had to leave the property. Housfy was absent during this stage and never replied to calls. Finally the landlord sent a fried to collect all its belongings. During my stay I had a problem with the front door locks I got locked out. I had to call my insurance who covered the emergency call expenses for a locksmith to let me in. It took Housfy 6 months to change the locks and I had to try to contact them countless times to no avail. Every time a different person was replying and I had to start again to tell them the whole story. After a while they stopped replying to calls and messages or were extremely rude to me.The landlord decided before the year end to give me the notice period and forced the situation to come and check the flat outside the contract requirement. I agreed and I made sure I was present with a friend to avoid discussions. The landlord proposed me to remain under a number of unlawful conditions so after few days I informed him I was going to leave the flat. I also informed the agency. There was a 15 days misunderstanding and disagreement on the date in which I should have been leaving the flat that caused me a lot of stress and a lot of difficult communication with both the landlord and Housfy. When I informed them that they were acting against the law, Housfy and the Landlord tried very hard to let me sign a “Rent termination agreement” in which I had to pay them additional money for the last bills and give up all my right for a compensation. Agreement that I refused to sign. In the meantime I had to organize everything to make sure all utilities bills were transferred to the landlord at the due date. Housfy did not take any action in that respect. I have struggled with Housfy for more than a week to organize with them a meeting to hand over the apartment keys the day I was leaving. Such meeting was never confirmed, and the day I left the flat I have been waiting for an Housfy agent for more than 1 hour. Finally I had to leave the flat key to the concierge, and informed via email Housfy and the landlord of the keys whereabouts. I also had to prepare a check out picture Inventory booklet. Two weeks after leaving the flat:• I saw that Housfy had not cancelled the content insurance contract I had to retrieve the bank payment and try to stop them. I called the insurance company that informed me that Housfy only could cancel the contract which they did after several days. • Someone from Housfy contacted me to request the flat keys. They threatened me that I had to pay another moth of rent for not having delivered the keys on time. For them legally I was still in the flat.It took me weeks and countless emails to try to explain Housfy that the I had informed them in writing the day I left that the concierge had the key they were looking for and that the landlord had been in touch with the concierge too.More than one month after I left the property, I received Housfy check out inventory with some pictures and of course they are requesting me to pay for object that I never saw and not included in the inventory and for damages that were done before I arrived. After nearly 3 months I am still subject to continuous threatening calls from Housfy.
