Edit: as an edit to the below review, I did get a call from the head of conveyancing, Mick, regarding my frustrations with the post completion matter. He was very understanding and assured me that the matter would be looked into and eased all of my concerns regarding trying to get this looked at. I would like to note that it is the last working few days prior to Christmas, so I understand it’s a very busy time for the team and I only wanted to speak to the team before the winter break to ensure that they were able to handle the post completion matter in the new year as they had responded via emails to the sellers solicitors indicating the opposite. This was a misunderstanding and the matter is now with Howells to look into for us. I appreciate the personal phone call, especially during this time of year, and it was nice to have the chance to share my experience with using Howells for our move. We were offered a very kind gesture of goodwill, which was very nice of the team. Honestly would not recommend, used Howells to buy our house, made a mistake by signing with them to do our conveyancing through the estate agents and not realising I had to use the same solicitors for buying a new property (moved from our first home, so was a new experience). They were very slow to deal with a property that should’ve been a very quick completion. We dealt with Sadie and her team, I will say the team always answer the phone, which is great, however often we heard conflicting information when calling which is unhelpful and frustrating. We ended up pushing a lot from our side to hurry them along, doing a lot of the legwork with the lender, who my other half happened to work for so that made it easier for us to push ourselves. We recently tried to get in touch regarding a post completion matter that the sellers solicitors had sent to ours, to be told (not from our solicitors) that Howells had responded “is this a matter that your client can raise with our client directly?” Rather than passing on the information to us. We need legal council for the deed of variation but are still having no luck getting through to the team. I wish I could list the amount of times we had to call them, the times we had to complain, the times we had to resign documents, the number of times we were told things would complete, only to be told by everyone else (lender, sellers solicitors) that they were waiting on Howells.
