⚠️ SCAM ALERT – Brightwell Auctions Ltd (Company no. 16378734)I almost lost £19,000 to this so-called auction company after bidding through the i-bidder.com platform. Here’s what happened:- I won a car auction (Volvo XC90) listed by Brightwell Auctions Ltd via i-bidder.com- I transferred £19,000 for the car and received an invoice marked “Paid”- After 4 hours, they sent me a second invoice for over £10,000, claiming “Buyer's Premium”, extra VAT and storage fees- I questioned the legitimacy of these fees — they began threatening with 6% daily penalties, and claimed I owed them more than £28,000- They kept responding professionally and seemed legit at first — even had a bank account at Barclays — but all pressure was focused on forcing more payments- Their Terms & Conditions are written in a predatory and abusive manner, making it nearly impossible for buyers to back out- After reporting to my bank and providing all the evidence, they confirmed this was a well-executed scam and I received a full refundI’ve reported them to:- Action Fraud UK- FCA (Financial Conduct Authority)- Citizens Advice (Ref: CCA-1988607)- Trading StandardsThis company uses realistic documents, logos, VAT numbers, and even detailed invoices with Barclays Bank payment instructions — but it’s all a trap.If you see Brightwell Auctions Ltd on any auction site, especially i-bidder, do not trust them and report immediately. I was lucky — many won’t be.
