I was forced to sell via modern auction rather than a traditional sale process owing to a vocal neighbour who protested outside the property during viewings. The neighbour did not want people from certain demographics moving into the house. I hope no one else has to go through the same.
IAmSold started well explaining the process well. Once agreed, I was passed on to a case handler who promised to call me once a week with updates. This didn’t happen.
I was then passed on to a second case handler. The sale did not progress in the agreed time owing to the buyer needing to secure a visa in order to secure the mortgage. I was surprised that a lack of visa was the hold up. In this country, when starting a new job, one needs to prove the right to work. I would advise IAmSold to build into their process that buyers ought to provide their legal ability to buy to avoid such delays in the process.
As such the sale was slow. At times I felt like I had to ask for updates and encourage more pro activity from my case handler. We moved into extending the sale period which was also a pill and not what I signed up for. The extension period felt quite common for IAmSold which was again a surprise to me. I once relayed that my estate agent had never known an auction either not go through or not go through on time to which my case handler replied ‘Really?’, indicating it happens more than we are told.
By the time we completed, I was on a third case handler.
I was sold a 95% success rate, a fixed deadline, a clear structure of sale and guidance. The sale did eventually go through but not much else worked as sold and it caused a great deal of uncertainty and heartache.
I wouldn’t recommend.
