I purchased the VATNESTRÖM mattress from IKEA Zaventem after careful research, trusting the brand and the product’s use of sustainable materials. I chose the most expensive model in the range, assuming the higher price would reflect higher quality. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a complete catastrophy. As a side sleeper, I followed the in-store staff’s recommendation and selected the medium firmness. Within just a few weeks, the mattress began sagging in the middle. This is not due to misuse, I am not overweight, and my use has been entirely normal. Despite being nearly new, the mattress is already causing discomfort and pressure sores. This level of deterioration is unacceptable, especially for a so-called premium product. To make matters worse, I reached out to customer service weeks ago, and the response has been slow and unsatisfactory. I expected proper support for a clearly defective item, including a return and replacement as per IKEA’s service commitments, but no meaningful action has been taken. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. A mattress at this price point should offer lasting support and comfort. IKEA needs to take responsibility for the poor quality of this product and the lack of effective customer service. I’m leaving this review to warn others: do not be misled by the high price or eco-friendly branding. This mattress does not meet even basic expectations of durability or comfort.
