Our new fancy 40 inch Ilve arrived Wednesday, Thursday we were on the phone to NYC and all over the place asking why the ovens didn’t work, and only one burner worked of the six, but that one burner took 10 minutes to boil water that was 1 inch deep in a pan. It was supposed to be self-cleaning from the specs we received from IlveUSA, and wasn’t. IlveUSA wasn’t helpful, and after a few minutes just hung up on me. I don’t blame her, although I wasn’t at all rude and quite the opposite. We have two AGAs in our homes in Canada and England, so this was for a farm house in America. It looked beautiful, but didn’t work, and the control panel was very low and small, so I got a backache bending over looking at it with my most powerful reading glasses. I felt we were looking at the beauty of Miss Universe who had no brain and did nothing. Friday the Appliance company replaced it with an American range at less than half the price. It’s not as pretty, but it works well. We might replace the American one someday with an AGA. Life can get too complicated, and that’s usually my fault!
