I hired a company to help me secure an appointment with AIMA in Portugal. Our contract specifically covered filing a lawsuit against AIMA to expedite the process. The company requested numerous documents, and I began uploading them to the cloud storage folder they provided.
However, almost immediately after I started uploading, I received an appointment slot through my own previous application (which was entirely unrelated to this company). Since I no longer needed their help, I stopped providing documents, and they never filed the lawsuit.
I requested a refund since they did not perform the primary service outlined in our contract, but they refused—even partially. While they admit no lawsuit was filed, they claim they performed "preparation work" to justify keeping the fee. Additionally, they forced me to pay for translation services despite the fact that I already had proper Portuguese translations of all my documents.
I believe their refund policy is illegal and their overall attitude is anti-consumer. Communication was also inconsistent; I had to speak with a different person every time, and no specific case manager was ever assigned to me.
