We tried the Ferryman game. Our critique centers on its lack of value and poor quality. For the price, we received only two PDF files, one being the solution. The experience was essentially reading a single document, with no effort to provide additional discovery avenues. There was a missed chance to offer multiple clues locked behind passwords in PDFs. For example, the deceased's phone could have had a code to unlock more information. This product feels lazy. While I understand the use of AI-generated images at this stage, the absence of real content is jarring. The campaign's quality was also disappointing. When we checked the answer sheet, we got it right only by eliminating other options, but the reasoning left us confused. Spoiler alert: the solution was poorly constructed, relying on a name similarity to a mythological figure, which felt more like a coincidence. Other clues also demanded unreasonable leaps in logic. We were expected to assume an anonymous online individual was the culprit based solely on gender and age. Honestly, what were they thinking? At least seven of the twenty-one clues had similar issues. We ended up laughing at the absurdity rather than engaging with the mystery. This campaign is uninspired and careless. If anyone reads this, I strongly recommend avoiding the Ferryman. We have two more campaigns to go, and I hope they are nothing like this one.
