Review Time
This company attended my property for window cleaning and in the process broke my blind. They admitted responsibility in writing as follows: "As previously stated, we accept that the footer was dislodged during our visit — we broke it, and we take full responsibility."[It wasn't just dislodged, it and another part of the blind were shattered into pieces].Initially, I went out of my way to see if I could manage the repair myself for free - this took some time as it involved me obtaining the broken part from the company who had made the blind and the item went astray in the post a couple of times before I received the replacement. Initially, I offered to Julian if he wanted to see if he could repair the blind himself - but in the meantime the blind company I bought from advised me (in writing) not to use anyone other than a blind company with experience as it would be easy to irreparably damage the blind. This would have been extremely expensive as the broken blind was colour matched to all the others in the room plus feature paint work, and the colour was no longer in stock - in other words, it would have involved replacing everything. I notified Julian of Hydrosmart of this fact.I obtained quotes for repair, contacted him to see if he could find a better quote from a blind specialist if he liked, but heard nothing. I went ahead and had the blind fixed and sent him the invoice for £211, and have heard nothing after asking for payment. I am now having to escalate to the small claims court to get my money back. I understand that mistakes happen but how a company handles them is important. In this case, other than in words, Julian has taken no responsibility. It's been such a hassle trying to sort all this out, especially as I'm a single parent to baby twins - i.e. it's the last thing I want to be doing in my precious little spare time. I would never let this company near my property again.
The team who arrived today were so professional, polite and helpful, thanks so much for sending them over. They did a great job on the gutters and the windows. Please pass on my thanks-I look forward to having them both back again.
