I purchased the Hope Ui Design System for my product team to scale quickly and to migrate two platforms so that we have a streamlined communication and language between design and development.Upon opening the Figma version I noticed it lacked what was described as a “premium” design system.Sure the devs may have what they need, but in design led orgs, this falls quite short. The system in Figma is not well documented, it is bare bones components with improper naming conventions, poorly organized, styles are minimal and not named in a proper tokenized format for scalability, no variables are attached in any of the components, no grid system defined. When I reached out for a refund, because the product is not as described on the site, I was met with “did you open the file and look for the design system in the side bar”. Which is very poor way of handling the situation. Of course I opened the file, I’m a staff level designer. That aside, they then went on to be quite dismissive with their language. The refund has said to have been issued. But this is a warning to designers that are looking for a way to bridge the gap between design and development. This is not the product you want, and their customer support could use a bit of a lesson in proper email etiquette.I am not sure when the field of product design became “here’s a few screens, this is our design system”But you could find a better free system on the community page in Figma itself.
