Appalling customer service

I wish I had read the TrustPilot reviews before booking with this joke of a company. As I write this, I am stranded at Calais having just missed our ferry due to the fault of Irish Ferries. We arrived well over an hour before our crossing and were met with huge lines at check in. We immediately raised our concerns with the check in staff who confirmed it would be ok and there was time. This had been relayed to several others in the queue. It transpired their computers had broken. Low and behold, we eventually got to the ferry bang on departure time. It had left. The employees at the gate were aggressive, rude and utterly useless. They said it was our fault for not being on time. There had been no communication that a large number of passengers had been held up. We are now looking at the time table and the next ferry leaves in several hours. When we asked about compensation, we were met with snickering from the employee. It appears they have rid themselves of any fault. No one has come round to explain to any of the passengers what is going on. We are all just sat in a queue assuming another ferry will arrive in a few hours. This is disgusting customer service. To add, we did not receive booking confirmation of our £300 crossing and it did not show on the incredibly dodgy website, resulting in tremendous issues checking in. The ferry itself is unpleasant. We paid a premium for the club lounge and ended up moving back down to standard class because of how horrible it was. Dark, dated and very uncomfortable. The food is awful. I am unsure how they get away with charging people upwards of £20 for any of it. Never again will we make the mistake of using this company. There are ample other options in the market. Steer clear.
