I was part of the recently graduated DBE class (2022-2025) at the local campus. In my first year, there were quite a few challenges with miscommunication and disorganization, which were related to the previous management. Thankfully, significant improvements have been made since then. The academy has brought in experienced professionals from the fashion industry who genuinely understand their craft. They take the time to listen to each student and provide tailored advice for our collections. In addition to the knowledgeable staff, there are also Guest Speakers who share their industry insights through mentorship programs. This has opened numerous doors for me, enhancing my CV tremendously. The opportunities extend beyond just design and sewing, encompassing various areas like PR, business, and styling. I've had the privilege of connecting with many talented individuals and professionals, some of whom I now collaborate with. Being a new academy, it's natural to face some initial hurdles as it evolves. However, the improvements in lecture formats and opportunities for student development have been remarkable. I'm excited to advance into the MA course this coming September.
