I ordered acrylic matte medium about 15 months ago. The gallon was sealed and stored properly. I recently opened the one gallon container and I noticed a strange smell aside from the normal acrylic smell. I also noticed there were adrk streaks in what would normally be white color so I stirred the medium and it seamed to help. I don't use it a lot, but when I do, I use a lot of it. The second time I opened the container which was resealed and properly sotred I noticed the smell got progressively worse to the point that it could not be used for fear of permanant damage to my paintings and sculptures. When I complained to the staff at Jerry's Artarama they basically said I am supposed to open or inspect everything I buy within one month or I'm stuck with it. Does anyone out there open every tube, jar or gallon of acrylic they buy within one month of delivery? This is not food. It should not be perishable. Shouldn't acrylics be reasonably permanent. I spoke with a number of my artists friends and most suspected some organic material must have gotten in the gallon of acrylic medium during production and when I opened it and introduced air to the mix it continued to grow and multiply. So I am stuck with a useless gallon of acrylic medium and there is no way of getting a replacement from Jerry's Artarama.
