Jigsaw/Axia Institutional Course

Hi all,One of the great things about Jigsaw (there are lots of others) is Peter's partnership with Axia Futures. The Jigsaw Institutional Course is taught by the traders at Axia, and they are amazing. The course is amazing--and huge! There is so much material I've been trying to work through it for quite a few months, and still have a lot of videos to watch. The content is mostly videos, but it also includes replay drills, where you'll be given a time to trade a particular order flow event in a particular market, and you trade it on replay and then answer questions (some of them quite tricky) about your experience (note that it's very helpful, as always, to record those drills) and finally watch the video of an Axia trader trading the event with commentary on what's happening. Those replay drills are fabulous. But the videos are also amazing. There are a ton of debriefs of live trading, where you get to hear what a very high level trader swinging hundreds of contracts was thinking and see how they executed on their ideas. Not all of their plans work out, and they show you those too, complete with self-criticism, and sometimes a P&L window into the tens of thousands of dollars they went down before reversing decisively and making all of it back and a lot more. I really appreciate that they discuss trades that didn't work, because those reflective qualities are a huge part of becoming a successful trader. There are plenty of order flow setups discussed and shown in live trading for anyone to get started with at least a couple solid trades they could feel confident about using in the live markets. The foundation in the course for doing that is the live trading exercises, which consist of sim trading the setup repeatedly and taking detailed notes to refine the setup and particularly determine for oneself under what market conditions (auctioning, velocity, volume, liquidity, etc.) the setup is likely to work. One of the best things about the course is the way the Axia traders discuss size and how to modulate size to get really excellent results, even with a low win rate, although the way I trade, I feel more comfortable with a high win rate, and I've had weeklong streaks with a win rate of 85%, so something must be working. That said, while I'm getting good at the more skills based part of trading, every so often I've been having really negative P&L days on account of the emotional part of trading real money, and some bad habits I pickup up sim trading in the Jigsaw environment where you have unlimited resources. So a feature I'd like to see in Jigsaw and Journalytix is a way to limit the size available and keep track of the balance of a sim account. Until they have that, I'd suggest sim trading with the Jigsaw tools, but running the trades through your brokerage's demo account. The course does discuss the core practices traders need to take up when they aren't actively trading (like exercise, routine, meditation, visualization, and journaling) in order to progress. But the discussion is relatively brief and doesn't have the same level of rigor as the rest of the course. That isn't really a criticism, but more of a warning that those parts of trading are hugely important and so if you don't already have those down in the context of trading real money, just be careful and maybe look for another source of rigor in those areas, so you don't lose too much money learning those lessons. I'm enrolled in a new course from one of the Axia traders in Portugal that addresses those areas in greater detail for support, but have also been fortunate enough to not get killed learning the hard way. As the Axia guys say, there is a profitability J curve in learning to trade and I've taken some knocks, but I'm controlling my risk better and am hopefully approaching the bottom of the curve. This is a long term thing that isn't easy, but I keep thinking about next year and the year after that, and my progress and the potential keep me going. I have faith persistence will win the day.I can't recommend the institutional course highly enough, and also the Jigsaw tools.
