Went to view a house with flagship under the shared ownership scheme. They stated that I had to pass an affordability check with just mortgages in order to progress my application- therefore had a telephone call with Matt Tilbury to discuss this. Looking back now that’s how they get you to start a mortage with them. My backstory was maybe a tad more complex than others with some previous poor credit on my credit file and DMP. I explained to Matt all of this from the get go and he stated that he would be able to work his magic, he’d worked with lots of scenarios like this before and it wouldn’t be an issue. Did an application - at a cost of £150 for the application only to find I got instantly declined because Matt hasn’t declared to them all the information that I had told him which was the whole purpose of using them. We tried a second lender £250 for another application and again they declined. In the mist of all of this I had selected a solicitor to use and paid £400 for them to commence with the promise that Matt would be able to get me a mortage- Just to be clear I paid £150 for a mortage application- yet to be refunded- paid on the 11/02/226 £250 to reserve the flagship house£250 for a second mortage application that if you read the small print is non refundable- agin no refund £400 on solicitors which is partly my own fault! Went to view the house onThe 18th December and 3 months later I still don’t have a mortgage via them. Was holding on hope but now wondering why I bothered. The last offer they came back with was for one last try- £199 application, £600 legal feeds, £375 valuation! No thanks!
