She did eventually suggest a specialist lender, but at a significantly higher rate than I was comfortable with.I subsequently found another broker independently, who secured a formal mortgage offer with a specialist lender at a far better rate on the same property.I felt that for £499, the due diligence on lender suitability for this specific property type should have been more thorough before the application was submitted, and that the specialist market wasn't explored with enough effort when the mainstream route failed. I'd recommend anyone with a complex property case to ensure their broker has specific experience with specialist lenders before paying an upfront fee.
