I found that the holiday did not quite meet my expectations. The itinerary promised a lot but ultimately fell flat. Spending Christmas in Portugal offered many chances to engage with local life, culture, and stunning landscapes. However, the five days felt more like five half days, with hotel departures at 09:30 and returns around 14:30 or 15:00. Although we had a knowledgeable tour guide, we spent a lot of time in a naval museum that seemed more aligned with the guide's interests. I realize now that I could have explored independently on several occasions. The hotel was well-located and had decent facilities, but the food quality and selection were disappointing, even after raising concerns with our host.
