Karly Harris
Absolute Catastrophe and Aliexpress Products

I ordered the Sanrio Advent Calendar from their website in October since it was recommended to me via Instagram ads. I was completely taken away by the detailed design of the calendar as well as the previewed items so I ordered it right away. The description on the website stated that the item would ship from China, that there won’t be any duty fees that would have to be paid upon arrival and most importantly that the calendar would ship my November 25th and arrive by beginning of December which I was completely fine with. Fast-forwarding to November 22nd I received a mail saying that my order was shipped (from Texas) and while I was a little confused and concerned about possible duty fees I might face, I was very excited and happy that my calendar would arrive just on time! However the status „label created“ did not change. Only by e-mailing them was I able to discover that apparently the calendars are not even finished yet as an item is still missing so only the shipping labels have been created yet. They added that I might have to pay a small amount of customs but that they declared a lower value on the calendar. I would like to add that this is fraud and while it is a way to get around having to pay fees, it might face big trouble during duty inspection if they find out about it (making the calendar not arrive at all mind you!). Via Instagram they did update the customers on the progress, however people became increasingly frustrated about the constant delays. Today is the 1st of December and my calendar still has not shipped, nor has anyone received an approximate shipping date. The calendar would therefore arrive mid to end of December, absolutely defeating the purpose of an advent calendar (one that cost 180€ I might add). Via Instagram people increasingly became frustrated and complained about the delay in their comments which were disabled soon after. KindaKawaii then created a story complaining about their customers being mad, claiming that a lot of things had gone wrong in the progress and that they’re working on 6000+ orders as a one person business which all puts them down emotionally.Dear Raff, your planning of this calendar has been an absolute catastrophe and not taking accountability for your mistakes makes the matter even worse. How is it possible that you seemingly ordered supplies so late, that they only arrive by December? How can you complain about being overwhelmed by all the orders coming in when you could simply limit the supply and focus on a smaller quantity of orders while providing more quality? I completely understand that issues like the typhoon which led to a delay have caused trouble but most of the issues you faced could have mostly been avoided by proper planning (for example the sudden change in price because shipping was higher than initially anticipated). You cannot sell an advent calendar that people spent a huge amount of money on while not being able to keep the promises made on your website which should be the bare minimum. Having a small business takes proper execution and planning, if you’re overwhelmed by that then you should seek assistance or pause your business for a while and figure out exact plans. Your customers bought the calendar as gifts or maybe even as their first proper advent calendar for themselves ever and we all have spent a big amount of money on it that we worked hard for, a few probably even spent their savings on it I’m sure. I am confident the advent calendar would have been absolutely beautiful and worth the price, given the previews and the overall design. But the poor execution destroyed that experience for me and many other people, as we basically all had to run after information about shipping and the calendar not even arriving on time now. I have cancelled my order but would have personally loved to enjoy it for Christmas season. In order to improve your business, please stop blaming other people for things that have gone wrong and own up to your mistakes. Otherwise you have probably ruined your business and its reputation by this calendar catastrophe.EDIT: I also just found out that all of the items in the calendar can be found on Aliexpress or Shein, meaning they are cheap products from China… I don’t regret my cancellation.
