This was my second attempt at taking a LanguageCert UKVI SELT exam, and unfortunately both experiences were well below an acceptable standard. Having now experienced the same problems twice, I feel it is important to share this review so others are aware before booking.

In both exams, all candidates were required to take the speaking test in the same room at the same time. There was no privacy at all, and it was very easy to hear other candidates speaking throughout the test. For an exam that assesses speaking and listening skills, this environment is completely unsuitable. The constant background noise made it extremely difficult to concentrate, understand questions, and respond clearly.

The audio equipment was poor quality. The headphones provided were not noise-cancelling, and external noise from other candidates could be heard clearly. On top of this, the examiner’s voice was very quiet and unclear. I informed the examiner multiple times during the test that I could not hear properly, yet the test continued without any attempt to resolve the issue, adjust the audio, or repeat questions clearly.

During my second test, the situation was made even worse when the examiner became disconnected during the exam. This caused disruption, confusion, and additional stress, and further affected the flow and fairness of the assessment. For a high-stakes exam, this level of technical unreliability is unacceptable.

This is a UKVI SELT exam, which has serious immigration consequences for candidates. Results from this test can directly affect visa applications, family life, employment, and legal status in the UK. For that reason, the testing environment should be quiet, professional, private, and technically reliable. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet these basic expectations on either occasion.

Because these same issues have occurred twice, I have completely lost confidence in both the test centre and the provider. I am also aware that other candidates have raised similar concerns, which suggests these problems are not isolated incidents but part of a wider issue with test conditions and organisation.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this test centre or provider to anyone who needs a fair and reliable assessment, especially for UKVI purposes. I hope LanguageCert takes these concerns seriously and improves the standards of its testing conditions in the future.
