This company is a sham. My first payment to Liberty Loans 500 was stopped by my bank not by me. I was unaware of this for about 3 days until I received an email from Liberty Loans500. The email was atrocious! It was mean and accusatory and completely untrue. In it they directly accused me of “intentionally and maliciously” stopping their payment from coming out. They told me that I “recklessly disregarded” my financial commitment, and they followed with “your careless approach to payment obligations will result in severe and enduring consequences”. They told me that the stopped payment was “not an oversight” but instead a “conscience act of negligence” on my part. They finished with warning me to “brace myself for the harsh reprocussions” that were coming.I found out after that my bank had a note on my account to not allow any preauthorized debits due to fraud committed on my account at an earlier date. That’s why the payment didn’t go through. The day after the email Ella from Liberty Loans 500 called the department store I work at and picked the prompt for my manager. She then told my manager who she was and that I owed them money and then asked for me. Once I got on the phone with her she started yelling at me about the missed payment with my boss standing right beside me. I told her I couldn’t talk right then, that I was not on break and that I’d have to call her back. She told me if I hung up she would call right back over and over again until they had their missed payment. I told her that she wasn’t allowed to harass me at work like that. That if I lost my job how the hell would I be able to pay them? She said too bad that she would not stop calling. She would not stop demanding the missed payment immediately nor would she listen to anything I had to say. Finally I screamed in the phone that the best I could do was a double payment the following week. Only then did she stop screaming at me. Twice during the phone call I asked for Liberty Loans 500’s business number and GST number and both times I was told that I was not entitled to that information.That’s total bull. I know as a customer I am entitled to know their business and GST number as all registered businesses in Canada must display both numbers on all their receipts etc. she would not give them to me.This company is ruthless and shady and conducts themselves in the most unprofessional and illegal ways from charging way too much in interest to harassing me at work to refusing to give me their business and GST numbers! They are not a business but rather private lenders that pose as a business. One more thing, did anybody else have a clause in one of their emails from Liberty Loans 500 that stated that if you went on trust pilot and gave them a 5 star review that you would have 5% of your balance owing to them removed from your total balance owing? I sure did! Since when is bribery a legal way for a company to receive a good review on a review website?I seriously think this “company” is just some guy and his girlfriend giving out loans from their mom’s basement and then harassing people when there is a problem. Ella from Liberty Loans 500 is horrible, rude, completely unprofessional! I will never do business with these losers again!Erin CKingston, ON
