I went online to purchase some goods for my son who likes anime for a surprise christmas present. Google displayed LightintheBox as the number one choice for my search.Being a basically untrusting sole I then selected from the search UK only as I have been bitten with bad overseas service before and this company remained as the top choice. So I ploughed on setting up an account and finding some reasonably priced items for my son. The whole order came to around £100 sterling. Then I checked out and began to pay. It asked if I wished customs protection insurance but as I beleived it was a UK based company I did not believe that I needed it. I payed the order including £13 postage and sat back pretty pleased with my initiative. That's where the good bit ended. I received my order in 2 seperate consignments both from China both with customs and handling charges totalling £41.89. So a word of warning to any would be thrifty shoppers. Google's choices don't always guarantee safety and companies that offer customs insurance are probably trying to grab your attention with low prices by missing out the pretty steep shipping/customs and handling charges. What appeared to be a solid buy on my part became quite expensive. I will not be using this company again! I guess if it looks too good to be true......
