I phoned ahead as I specifically required a bank transfer not a cash payment (I had come from overseas to sell gold bullion and was limited in how much cash I could take through customs).Once my bullion had been assessed, I was given a fair price (£16,500) but told that they could not make an electronic payment because they’ll had a backlog of transfers to do. I explained my predicament and they maintained that they could only pay in cash.I asked for my gold back to take elsewhere. Although the next place I went to offered very slightly lower prices it was very professional compared to London Gold Company. I was asked to produce ID and had to open an account. A bank transfer was no problem. I wasn’t asked to provide ID at London Gold Company.On researching it later, I discovered that the maximum permissible amount of cash settlements per annum is £8,000. My bullion was valued at £16,500 and LGC didn’t bat an eyelid about paying me cash. The chap in the queue ahead of me walked out with considerably more than that.These guys are totally unprofessional. If you want a slightly better price and you’re happy to commit a criminal offence by dealing with them in cash, these are the guys for you
