We had a wonderful experience at Lowdhams, at the caravan and camping show at the NEC. Both Swift and Lowdhams (Mark) were amazing and despite them not being our closest dealer, we decided to buy a caravan from them. Our children were with us and being boys, they are just chaotic! But they were so patient with them and friendly. Collecting the caravan was great. We stayed on the pitch for a night and the staff were helpful; coming over to our caravan to show us various things and to assist us if there was an issue. However, this is where the positive review comes to an end.
The after care team is shocking. There was a issue with the caravan in which a claim needed to be put through to swift. The damage to the fibreglass was there upon purchase. Cut a long story short, we didn't use the caravan all summer, as we were waiting on a date to bring it in. We had to chase and chase...call and call...were passed around more times that you can count. So many different people emailed us. We were sad as it was really important to use the caravan last summer as our eldest is getting older and we wanted to make memories. There is obviously no communication between staff...nobody really knows what they are doing. We've tried to get jack points installed by them and they couldn't tell us the product. We wanted air conditioning fitted, well, nearly a year after purchasing the caravan, that hasn't happened. After much chasing, re explaining, the caravan was finally booked in for fibreglass pitting repair in October (so a total wasted summer) and we were finally able to use the caravan October half term for the first time. A second claim was also submitted in the summer as the roof panel has warped in the heat. Lowdams were arranging with swift to inspect the caravan. At the same time bringing it down, we were going to have air conditioning fitted. Well it is now 2026, 6 months on and we haven't heard anything. Today I have called up, quite annoyed and apparently swift did respond but didn't accept the warranty claim. Well how come nobody contacted us to let us know? 6 months and nobody has thought to follow it up with us? We refrained from contacting Lowdhams ourselves as the last claim took ages so we thought it is just how it works...
We went with Lowdhams 2.5 hours away from us, despite having a swift dealer 20 minutes from our home. We did this because they stood out as being exceptionally good. But the entire after sales team at Lowdhams has some serious issues. Communication is shocking...staff aren't armed with enough knowledge on products or technical specifications. A member of staff should be assigned a customer case and see it through to the end. Emails and communication are obviously getting lost, and there also aren't enough members of staff that care enough. For example, this morning, the lady put me on hold, and never came back to me!
I would urge anyone to please think twice before purchasing from them unless you are happy with no after sales support. From this point on we are going to have to liase with Swift ourselves and hopefully communication will be better. It will also be a good opportunity to provide feedback on this supplier. It is such ashame because we are easy going people and the Lowdhams set up, in theory is wonderful. But we bought a 30 grand caravan outright and we should not have had to spend the entire time since purchase emailing and calling, repeating ourselves to and worrying everyday. We dont expect a buisness to be perfect, we understand it is difficult; but this experience shouldn't have been as bad as this.
