Casa Bellavista – Borghetto Farmhouse, Via di Scioppato 24, San GennaroWe stayed in one of the six apartments, Casa Bellavista, located on the first floor between two other apartments. It’s a beautiful, charming, and sweet space with a spacious kitchen and two bathrooms – very handy for a family of four, especially when everyone comes back from the pool and needs a shower.The location is excellent, with so many day trips and places to explore within 30 minutes – including Pinocchio Park, Montecatini, “Little Switzerland,” and Lucca. There’s also a large Esselunga supermarket nearby, stocking everything you might need. The pool area is lovely, and Silvana, who looked after us, was fantastic – she listened and resolved any issues quickly.I’m giving the apartment 3 stars. First, it doesn’t have its own dedicated outdoor space for dining, breakfast, or simply enjoying a coffee. We had to carry all our food and drinks to the main garden area to make the most of the beautiful weather, views, and surroundings.Secondly, the swimming pool maintenance could be improved. With 24 people using it daily, we felt it should be cleaned every day or at least every other day. After a while, the water began to taste of sun cream, and there were dead bugs floating on the surface and at the bottom. We had to request a cleaning during our stay.While the apartment is well furnished, the kitchen could benefit from a few extra basics – such as cling film, foil, paper towels, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, or coffee – which we’ve often found provided in other villas and apartments in Italy. Some of the utensils are also a little tired and could use an upgrade.Please be aware there is no AC. We stayed in Tuscany when the temp got to 38-40 degree. Fans were provided but noisy and not very effective.All the other places we stayed in Tuscany had AC. Overall, this is a beautiful and well-located apartment in a stunning area, with lots to do nearby and a warm welcome from the hosts. With a few improvements, it could easily be a perfect 5-star stay.
