I joined for a one-off purchase over two years ago. I hadn’t used the service since, but I only just realised the direct debit was still running. When I contacted customer service to cancel the payment, I explained the mistake and asked—very politely—if they could consider a refund or even a partial refund as a goodwill gesture, given I hadn’t used the membership once in that time. Their response was simply to cancel my account with no refund at all.I completely understand that technically the payments were my responsibility, but good customer service is about more than sticking to the strictest terms. A little flexibility and understanding would have gone a long way here. Instead, I’m left feeling disappointed and undervalued as a customer.
