We've used Value Added Travel, a trading name of Luxury Travel To Limited, for several trips to the UAE over the last few years, BUT NEVER AGAIN!
We are due to fly to Dubai in just over a week, followed by 2 weeks in the Maldives, but the firm has refused to offer us a suitable alternative option or a full refund, given the ongoing war situation and FCDO advice not to travel to or through the UAE unless it is essential. This is despite us having a legal right to terminate the package travel contract without paying any termination fees where “unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occurring at the place of destination or its immediate vicinity significantly affect the performance of the package, or which significantly affect the carriage of passengers to the destination.” under Regulation 12(7) of the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.
We have been more than open to considering any reasonable alternative options and first enquired about this just over a month before we were due to travel, but they have continued to insist that we should travel because the planes are flying, despite us having no insurance if we did so. The only other option we have been offered is to delay the booking until next year, but we cannot travel then.
If you cannot rely on a tour operator when things go wrong, it really isn't worth the risk of booking with them ever again. Even Emirates (our flight carrier) are offering refunds to passengers who don't want to travel, so LHT/VAT's refusal to refund us is completely untenable.
