A Dejecting Experience

I hired Lyons Elite in 2023 during a particularly challenging period, while caring for an infirm parent and transitioning careers. I sought professional support in my personal life to find potential partners as meeting compatible men organically or online had proven difficult. After thorough research, interviews with several matchmakers, and talking with referrals, I chose Lyons Elite for their reputation. Three years later Lyons Elite has still not fulfilled the obligations outlined in their contract.I am sharing my experience, particularly key areas of concern, so other women are informed before engaging their services.1- The Fine Print: When I hired them, packages ranged from $6,500 to $55,000. I purchased the Silver package after reviewing their onboarding and marketing materials which promised I would be assigned the agency director, Kristen, as my matchmaker and be “introduced to at least 12 different matches” over a 12-month period. However, their contract stated “Lyons Elite does not guarantee any minimum number of introductions.” This alarming contradiction prompted me to negotiate revisions. After referencing their own brochure—which claimed, “Your package will have a minimum number outlined that we will meet” —I secured an appendix specifying the agreed minimums before signing.2- Introductions: During the first 12 months, Kristen made only three introductions. Lyons Elite then offered me a 12-month extension, assigning me to a new senior matchmaker, Suezan, as Kristen was focusing on their app. In that time, she made only two introductions, so I had to negotiate yet another extension. That time has now passed, and they only made 3 more introductions. In total, they failed to meet their contractual minimums.3- Candidates: Lyons Elite’s materials state that “your personal matchmaker will actively comb through our database – and a very large rolodex of connections”. In practice, most matches were individuals I had already encountered on dating apps. They appear to rely heavily on their “Affiliate Program,” where men sign up for free. While they occasionally pulled from an international matchmaker database, there was no active, targeted search process typical of top tier matchmakers.4- Calibre: According to one email from Lyons Elite “Our team has invested significant time and energy sourcing thoughtful matches, who meet the standards of character, success, and intent that define the calibre we strive for.” Unfortunately, my experience suggests otherwise. Two of my matches were unemployed—one even asked me to help him find a job. Since the Affiliate Program is free the men who sign up have no skin in the game. All those I met admitted they joined out of curiosity, not a desire for a serious relationship. Furthermore, Lyons Elite screens candidates only by phone. In contrast, reputable exclusive matchmakers conduct in person interviews to verify candidates’ authenticity and intentions.5- Matchmaking: Prior to signing, I completed three extensive interviews with both Emily and Kristen, who assured me they understood my background and criteria. They acknowledged that the search might be more complex for a woman in her 40s but expressed confidence in their ability to deliver. When suitable matches failed to materialize, I even relaxed some of my requirements—yet their efforts remained unsuccessful. At that point, they began using my preferences as an excuse for poor results. Certain considerations, such as cultural background, religion, age, children, are essential when one is looking for a partner. A qualified matchmaker should respect and work within those parameters, not disparage the client for maintaining them.Overall Lyons Elite’s representations in their materials and contract did not reflect the service ultimately delivered. I regret entrusting them with the intimate task of introducing me to potential partners. The Lyons Elite experience was dejecting and taxing both emotionally and financially, in sum, a bad investment.
