I mistakenly bought a fraudulent Humanscale chair from Madison Seating to replace a Humanscale chair that I’ve owned for 15 years. Madison Seating advertised the chair as as “open box,” which I understand to mean that it is a new, original manufacturer's product. Within a month, the plastic on the left armrest cracked. This of course seemed extraordinarily strange for a new Humanscale product. I contacted Madison Seating who offered to send me replacement armrest for $19.99, which seemed outrageous but I paid for it rather than return the chair, which I knew would cost me far more. When the armrest arrived, I compared it with the armrest on the Humanscale chair I was replacing and realized that the one Madison Seating sent was completely different. I researched Madison Seating further and learned they have a history of misrepresenting the products they sell. I will never buy another chair from Madison Seating because I can't trust that what they're advertising is what they're selling. It appears that, unfortunately, I’m in good company.
