WOW, what can you say about the Manchester Evening News that's positive? Positively nothing I guess

WOW, what can you say about the Manchester Evening News that's positive? Positively nothing I guess. The paper is very low level reading, expensive, and very little to offer. The web site is just pages of pop ups and ads. It is always asking for me to accept cookies. Last time I checked it was sending my data I assume it's harvesting to 1,400 partners. You can pay to avoid the pop ups, but seriously. I read like two thing for my football team. The local Messenger paper seemed better value than this now toilet paper rag.

Substandard journalism and content

The quality of journalism, spelling, grammar, and content is extremely poor. This might be one of the least impressive newspapers in the nation. What they offer isn't true journalism; it's merely copying and pasting from other sources while recycling the same uninspiring headlines repeatedly. The advertisements were already off-putting, and it's clear they were generating revenue. Now, they expect readers to pay a membership fee for access to certain articles 🤣😂—what a farce. Who would be willing to pay for articles that seem like they were written by a child?

Awful 'journalism'

This is an example of terrible journalism, with numerous spelling and grammar issues. It may rank among the worst publications in the country. What passes for journalism here is just copying stories from elsewhere and recycling the same ridiculous headlines week after week. The advertisements were already intrusive, and it's evident they were also a source of income. Now they expect people to pay a membership fee for certain articles 🤣😂—what a joke. Who would pay to read articles that seem like they were penned by a child?

After 20 years, it's time to part ways

Having read for 20 years, it's finally time to say goodbye as most articles now require a subscription. I would never pay for news, particularly given the frequent issues with grammar and spelling. I suppose I’ll turn to a different platform for news, even if it’s not as local.

Completely disappointing!

This is a seriously disappointing publication, cluttered with ads that make it impossible to read a story without interruptions. When you do manage to read, the content is riddled with spelling errors or nonsensical narratives. It's truly embarrassing for the city and disheartening to see how this publication has declined!

A disgrace to the city

This publication is a disgrace to the city. The 'journalism' is appalling, with poorly constructed sentences and countless spelling mistakes. It's baffling how anyone can still read this material. The staff should feel shame for producing such low-quality work.

Ignored serious issues

I informed them about a company that is scamming people and selling unsafe vehicles, but they seem uninterested in news that could actually make a difference.

Unpleasant content

I don't have nail fungus, so the offensive images are quite off-putting. This publication is filled with distasteful ads. If they can't operate without such ads, they might as well shut down and leave news coverage to a more reputable source. Local newspapers are all the same; they fail to support local businesses and instead promote irrelevant content. They are hastening their own downfall, but they seem unwilling to listen.

Poor representation of the city

Who writes about an icon like this: 'The Mancunian boxing icon was dead at his home in Gee Cross...'—the phrasing is appalling. This kind of reporting deserves serious reconsideration.

Ads lack relevance

Is there any chance of getting ads that are actually interesting? It would be great to see ads from real brands that people care about, rather than irrelevant ones. It's time to improve the offerings.
