I have been editing a collection of essays on T. S. Eliot, called Christ the Tiger, by my father, Hyam Maccoby. I think the book is worth publishing, but it is likely only to appeal to a small, niche readership. In today's publishing climate, in which marketing is all-important, this means that publishers are unlikely to accept a book that, however much worth publishing as a book, will not be financially viable. So the answer was clearly self-publishing. I had reached this conclusion when I talked to a friend, Simon Cohen, who had had a book published by Maple Publishers.
