Today I visited Mariano's in Arlington…

Today I visited Mariano's in Arlington Heights, IL on Golf Rd. First, I was only there to get a seeded watermelon and some seeded grapes. I had called prior to going and someone who worked in the produce dept told me on the phone that they had those items with seeds out on the shelf. NOT!!!! Secondly, I noticed that they had a fresh juice area, I thought no seeded fruits I'll get me fresh juice. I ordered a Geen Detox smoothie/juice. Anyway, long story short the young Indian lady that was servicing me made the juice and she filled the cup up as much as possible and there was plenty left over. I said to her, "Can you put the remaining juice in a smaller cup, and I'll pay for it." She says very quickly, I'm not giving you that for free!" I proceeded to say, "I didn't ask for it for free I'm willing to pay for it instead of it going to waste." I believe she repeated that racist comment as though all black people want free handouts. I was applauded and pissed all at the same time. Prior to that, the spirit had me praying, Thank God because I could have become the typical angry black woman that most black women are labeled as, But again God!! She wasted nearly a half cup of fresh juice because she made too much. So wasteful was my thinking I could buy the extra instead of it going down the drain. Racist, Racist, Racist, yes I'm pulling that card because that's exactly what it was. There was a much better way of saying, sorry we just toss fresh juice down the sink! So disappointing on Mariano's part because they could at least put the juice in very small containers for their shoppers to enjoy instead of tossing fresh juice. But who am I but a Black woman shopping!! Back to that racist comment, I wish I knew her name. Thirdly, Dealing with the public, especially in a grocery store where only God knows who going to shop there you would think that Racist people would leave their Racist comments and attitudes at home. What a horrible experience for my first time shopping at such a well-known grocery store!!
