From start to finish our experience with Merit EE Tours was excellent! First, scheduling and booking with Muluken was extremely easy and smooth. We had some ideas of what we wanted to see in the city on our day tour, and Muluken gave us helpful advice and suggestions that made us rethink some things. Communication with both Muluken and our guide, Biruk was very proactive. On the day of our tour, we met Biruk easily in our hotel lobby despite our last minute hotel change. Our first stop was the National Museum, where Biruk impressed us with his knowledge of Ethiopian natural history and politics! After a brief stop at Mt. Entoto, we went on to have a very special lunch and buna (coffee) with a local family. Not only was the food wonderful, but we chatted and laughed easily with our animated and gregarious host TG, despite language barriers. It was great fun and felt like we were in a friend's home. We so enjoyed participating in the coffee ceremony by washing, roasting and grinding the beans. And Biruk teaching us how to summon the neighbors to share a coffee will be remembered forever. Our last stop was to a handmade pottery factory. This too was a unique and memorable experience, and we were happy that Biruk offered this alternative to the Mercato at our request.
