That's the business model.

I always seem to score less than I expected, even though I am usually good at spelling. Maths etc.etc. etc.

It clearly works by making you feel disappointed at your apparent score.
Then it tells you that they can help you improve.
But you will always score lower than you thought, because that's the algorithms mission.
To feed your insecurities after Initially flattering your ego.
So you keep coming back.
