Upon arrival, I was told point-blank that this insurance was “not valid for driving in Mexico” and that I would need to purchase their own overpriced in-house coverage. This was a lie — and they knew it.It’s a classic bait-and-switch: they lure you in with low prices, then invent false legal claims to pressure you into paying extra. It’s not clumsy — it’s strategic. And it’s happening to other travelers, too.⸻SCAM #2 — The missing key blade and the gaslight show.After signing the paperwork, they handed me a car key fob — but it was clearly missing the metal blade. I noticed immediately, walked to the lot, and pointed it out to the parking attendant. He looked confused and called the manager. I returned to the office.That’s when the real scam started: the manager insisted I must have dropped the key blade on the short walk to the car — as if it had somehow fallen off in my pocket or disappeared into thin air. I told him I had just come from the counter and hadn’t even used the key yet. He shrugged and pretended to organize a search, sending staff out to “look for it,” even though we both knew he had handed me an incomplete key from the start.It was so transparent — and so insulting.
