I have been using MMH since 2012 to find sitters for my home. The worst experience was a retired train driver and his wife. At the time we had four dogs. We stipulated that the dogs should be walked at nine am. Our maid reported that the couple didn’t surface until midday. They left our cooking utensils stained by turmeric. They asked for a review but I chose to ignore their request.That was the worst experience.When we lived in Madeira, as it was a very popular tourist destination, we would often get twenty replies in twenty-four hours from all over the world. My wife and i would rate them from one to ten and then discard those we felt were six or less. Young people who had looked after granny’s moggy for a couple of weeks were never going to be suitable. Middle-aged were our choice.Some we still hear from years later.We found little point in contacting sitters. Invariably they were not available.Nothing was ever damaged nor stolen.We introduced them to our neighbours, over a meal when time permitted. We booked them to arrive a couple of days before we left and arrived back home at least twenty-four hours before the sitters were due to leave. We asked for updates with photos whilst we were away. Video WhatsApp or similar was always a must when interviewing..I have nothing but praise for MindMyHouse.
