Rich and Kristin were the stars, but let's not forget those behind the scenes. Flight changes by United forced the trip to be completely rearranged twice in the last few months. Both times the team found a way to make it work without losing any key features of the trip.Once there, Rich and Kristin kept us on schedule and in the water they were constantly pointing out creatures and their behaviors to those around them. Those who wanted to search on their own nearby could do that as well. I have spent hundreds of hours in tropical waters, and they were still finding many things I had never seen. I was able to photograph about 120 species of fish, and I'm sure I missed many more.Of course there is logistic work on site as well. They kept our meal orders straight, coordinated with great local guides, and made sure we went to interesting and diverse places. They probably also fixed dozens of things behind the scenes that we never had to know about.The hotel in Yap was no 5-star place, but it was pleasant and the staff were friendly and more than helpful. They worked with Rich and Kristin to navigate United's lost baggage process so that we got our bags back with minimal work on our part. We were the first group in after a long COVID shutdown in Yap.In Palau we had a very nice room in a resort. Sometimes it's the little things. In our previous tropical trip (different country, different company) the room looked nice but our clothing never dried out. Here, everything was a little nicer AND our clothing stayed dry in spite of humid weather outdoors.
