The Oak House Restaurant
Redefining the Word "mediocre."

Our family first visited The Oak House on a quiet weekday evening in January to celebrate our granddaughter’s 20th birthday. The food and service were excellent, and I didn’t hesitate to recommend it to several friends.Encouraged by that experience, our daughter booked a table for us once again—this time to celebrate my birthday last night, which was a Saturday. Unfortunately, the experience couldn't have been more different. We placed our order shortly after arriving. Among the starters, we ordered two portions of warm rustic breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. After a 45-minute wait, the starters finally arrived—one portion short and the other missing the balsamic. We pointed this out to a young staff member, who brought the missing order shortly after. Sadly, this came with cold bread instead of the originally listed “warm rustic” version. The same applied to the first serving: cold toast with no balsamic. When the mains arrived, my ribeye steak was cooked to my preference, but that was the only highlight. It was tough, gristly, and difficult to enjoy. The grilled tomatoes were burnt and cold, and the chips were also both cold and burnt a perfect duo. When my daughter asked how it was, I didn’t want to seem ungrateful, so I simply said the steak was good but the vegetables were slightly cold.As the meal progressed, it became clear that everyone at the table was very disappointed. All plates were left unfinished, and we all decided to skip dessert. It became apparent that we were all disappointed.Despite the mistake with the starter, both portions were still included on the bill.Prior to this experience, we had considered booking a private room for our granddaughter’s 21st birthday next January. That plan is now off the table. There’s simply no excuse for a restaurant that claims to be high quality with prices to match to serve subpar food.It occurred to me that perhaps the staff were overwhelmed due to a large event elsewhere in the building, leaving the main restaurant understaffed and neglected. Regardless, this kind of service and quality is unacceptable.Sadly, this was our last visit to The Oak House.
