Richard
Unreliable & Unprofessional Dealership.

Me and my partner bought a Peugeot 2008 (2020) from this dealership back in July. What we experienced goes far beyond simple delays or misunderstandings - it showed a complete breakdown in customer service, communication, and basic responsibility on the dealer’s part. The day it arrived, it developed serious faults, including engine warnings and shortly after an oil pressure issue that made it undrivable. The car had to be collected by Motor Gurus for a statutory repair because it physically couldn’t be taken back to Sheffield. From there, everything went downhill. For almost three weeks, we received no meaningful updates. Every time we called, we were promised someone would get back to us, and six times those calls never came. Emails went unanswered. The information we did manage to get was inconsistent and often contradicted what had been said before. At one point, we were told they were waiting on parts that, according to both our local garage and major suppliers in the UK, were readily available online and in store.Communication became so poor that we had no option but to contact the mechanic directly - something we should never have had to do under a statutory repair. He confirmed he carried out the work Motor Gurus told him to do but also confirmed there was still an engine fault present. The next day, Motor Gurus claimed the car was “fully repaired,” but again gave no explanation or record of what needed fixing. The most shocking part came when they refused to return the car back to us in Wales unless we paid for delivery. They had collected it because it wasn’t drivable, yet expected us to either collect it from Sheffield or pay them £200 (after first quoting £365). This goes against the Consumer Rights Act, which requires dealers to carry out statutory repairs without causing significant inconvenience or cost to the customer. We were 200+ miles away with no transport to get there, so we had no choice but to pay under protest just to get the car back.We have now sought legal advice, opened a case with The Motor Ombudsman and Trading Standards, and begun the process for Small Claims Court to recover not only the £200, but additional losses caused by the situation.Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a vehicle from Motor Gurus to be extremely cautious. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and refusal to accept responsibility made this one of the worst dealership experiences I’ve encountered.
