Mr Charger did a Tesla Gen 3 charger installation which was done on 17th Feb 2022. This included a Garo Fusebox. It worked well for the first 18 months, but since winter 2023 to 2024 it’s been tripping the Garo on a more and more frequent basis. These days it’s tripping multiple times a week.I had Tesla investigate, running diagnostics on my charging and checking logs around the points where the power shorts. They said as below that the issue is coming from the Garo box and that “Garo RCBO's have been reported to cause nuisance tripping due to inadequate thermal withstand under high load. The manufacturer has addressed this problem by releasing the Garo RCBO EVS B40A, which has been re-designed to address the issue you are encountering”I contacted Mr Charger, and they said "Our installations include a 12 month installation and parts warranty, which covers the circuit breaker. As it has been over 2 years since the installation you are no longer covered by this."This is despite the manufacturer of the EV fusebox which has the problem, Garo, offering a 5 year parts warranty.In short, if you're happy to spend £1000 installing a charger and willing to take the risk that if any fault arrises after 12 months that you're fully on your own, then go for it. If you want a company that expects an EV charger to be functional for more than 12 months, look elewhere.
