My wife made an initial contact with them, as the ads say “If you have owned a diesel car between, etc”; in fact, it refers to cars that were first registered between those dates. The one we owned was registered earlier. We then looked at the reasons one might be able to claim and they seem to centre around mis-selling by the dealer. We could not claim that anyway, so my wife did not proceed to signing up, etc. This didn’t stop a series of further emails from them and today, a rather high-pressure telephone call from someone talking about taking security details, over the phone, so he could close her account. Since nothing had ever been agreed by us, there seemed to be no reason to go through any formalities. I’m afraid, despite the clever TV adverts, there is something distinctly fishy about this lot.
