Having read many of the negative experiences reported here, I’ll share what worked for me to collect my Equifax settlement: Went to the Amazon site to purchase an e-gift card in the exact dollar amount of my prepaid card; entered the prepaid card as the payment method for the gift card; and sent the gift card to my own email address. When the gift card email arrived a minute later, I added it to my Amazon account. Granted that this seems unnecessarily complicated for the purpose — especially after having to give up my personal info and agree to a bunch of legalese just to *get* the prepaid card — but I didn’t encounter any problems.
