I recently had our renewal price through for our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We were paying £82.59 per month but this has increased to £195.01 per month. Yes we have only recently starting claiming for his separation anxiety for the past 2 months but never claimed for anything else & he is coming up to 8 but a 136% increase is not justifiable.I contacted you by message to raise my concerns over the price hike & before you even get to speak to someone, the automated response is ‘we won’t be able to do anything with the renewal price’ due to the usual excuses they give- vet bill increases, where you live etc, age, breed etc.How is that affordable to pet owners. I can appreciate an increase over a number of years in his later life. Animals like humans can become ill or have accidents at any stage of their life so age is irrelevant & from past experience of having this breed, conditions like heart murmurs which they are prone to can develop at an early stage (our 1st dog had it from the age of 2) so that is not factually correct. I am deeply disappointed & feel trapped as once a pet owner has to claim, pet insurance companies know they can charge ridiculous amounts of money as owners will not be able to go elsewhere because of the pre existing conditions the pet might have.
