Extreme Caution Advised A Pattern of High Pressure Tactics and High RiskI had a deeply concerning experience with this seller that presented multiple red flags, leading me to terminate the transaction. I share these details to help others make an informed decision.Key Reasons for My Decision:1. Artificial urgency and pressure I was repeatedly told there was "another buyer" in order to rush me into a decision. Strangely, the same pearl was still listed on the website afterwards, raising the question of whether some listings are simply bait.2. Refusal of secure payment methods PayPal (even with me offering to cover fees) was categorically rejected, leaving me with no buyer protection. Instead, insecure methods were pushed.3. Unreasonable pricing and manipulation After refusing an overpriced pearl, I was offered another of visibly poor quality at a very high price, which felt like an attempt to get rid of unsellable stock.4. Lack of transparency about customs fees Thousands in import duties were never mentioned at first, only discovered later.5. Suspicious cross selling The seller even suggested buying a gemstone from a competitor's inventory and reselling it to me. I later confirmed directly with that competitor that such a practice is highly irregular and not acceptable in the industry.6. Exorbitant and deceptive advance for certificates I was initially asked for an advance of 2,500 dollars to obtain a certificate. This amount was suddenly increased to $3,000, under the pretext of laboratory fees. However, upon checking directly with the laboratory, I confirmed that the cost for such expertise does not exceed $250. Demanding $3,000 is completely unjustified and reveals a clear attempt at deception.7. Unverifiable claims of origin Gems were presented as being of rare provenance without any proof. Certificates would only be provided if I sent the large advance. This significant advance is, of course, required outside of PayPal, ensuring you have no recourse whatsoever. Even if he were to actually obtain a certificate, which is not guaranteed and it stated a different origin or quality than promised, you would be unable to recover your advance payment.8. Manipulative reviews I was explicitly asked to provide a review or video in exchange for a discount. This casts serious doubt on the glowing testimonials displayed on the website.9. Contradictory follow ups Even after claiming the pearl I wanted was "already sold," I kept receiving follow ups, while the same pearl remained on the website. This raises doubts about whether some stones are even in stock.10. Denigrating competitors The seller did not hesitate to disparage competitors even though unlike him, they provide verifiable certificates. This behavior is highly unprofessional and a red flag in itself.11. Love bombing tactics After I ended the exchanges, just hours later he came back trying to connect with me on LinkedIn, even writing "I would love to Connect." This is not only unprofessional but a very strange manipulation attempt, clearly designed to blur boundaries and keep me as a "potential target."12. Misleading and enhanced imagery The photographs do not accurately represent the pearls. Virtually a lot of pearl is shown with an extraordinary orient, but if you compare them with the genuine orient of certified pearls (which are a minority on the website), the difference is stark. The pearls in the listings appear to be digitally enhanced to look exceptionally white and luminous. If the pearl you receive looks nothing like the photo, you have no recourse for a refund due to the complete lack of buyer protection, leaving you with nothing but regret. In summary, this felt less like a professional gemstone dealer and more like a high risk operation using manipulative sales tactics. Transparency, honesty, and buyer protection are crucial in this business, but none were respected here.I strongly recommend extreme caution and personally would not advise buying from this seller, especially for international buyers outside of India, as this situation leaves you with absolutely no legal recourse or practical means of seeking redress in case of problems.Update: After this review, the seller contacted me to dispute my account, addressing only minor details while avoiding the most serious and verifiable issues. He also compared Razorpay’s guarantees to PayPal’s, even though Razorpay’s buyer protection is optional and absolutly not equivalent to PayPal’s defined process.I have kept all records of these contacts, shared them with Trustpilot, without truncating any exchanges, and will take appropriate steps if the seller keeps trying to influence my review.
