I am currently a labor organizer transitioning to Data Analysis/Science and the Python and SQL will be incredibly useful. I am entering the second week of the final course of the Python and SQL back-end developer bootcamp. It has been a positive and challenging experience so far. Two years ago, I did the intro to web development bootcamp through Nucamp and enjoyed the experience. I chose this particular bootcamp over others because of the cost and the material. The courses move quickly and we covered a lot of ground. I ensured to set aside 20-24 hours a week for the bootcamp as I have to review the material and concepts more than once to fully understand them. Months prior to the bootcamp I was also doing some self-learning to get my brain ready to be "in class" learning again. The material has been comprehensive and we have covered a ton of ground here. Good time management and setting clear expectations about the time commitment has been helpful to me. The material is well complimented by the instructors. Each has been well-experienced, coming from the field, and they all have been invested in the success of their students. To communicate with our instructors, we used dedicated Slack channels and Zoom while in class. I was impressed by their engagement with the students. The instructors are working professionals and their insight made the material more relevant to future work opportunities. The layout of the courses has also been helpful to my learning method. The weeks are laid out on a chart with segments and as each module/lesson has been completed the corresponding segment turns green. It's an effective way to communicate progress and at times, this feels like a game, and games are fun.All in all, I highly recommend Nucamp bootcamps. Investing in myself and in this bootcamp has been very worth the effort.
