When I first started working with NY Book Publishers on my book, everything looked great. They promised editing, formatting, cover design, and distribution across platforms — all for what seemed like a fair price. In the beginning, they were responsive and helpful, and I really thought I had found the right team. At that point, I’d have given them 5 stars. But once we got closer to the finish line, things took a turn. The marketing team started pushing me hard to buy into expensive promotional packages, one of which was close to $25,000. When I said no, the communication slowed down to almost nothing. Suddenly, progress stalled, and I had to finish the editing and formatting myself. In the end, I paid another company to finalize my cover and files, which they did in a matter of days — after NY Book Publishers had dragged their feet for months. The upselling was relentless. They even quoted me $3,000 for an ISBN (which you can get for under $150 if you do it yourself). At that point, it became clear: this company cares more about selling overpriced add-ons than actually helping authors publish their work.If I could split my review in two, the beginning was 5 stars, but by the end it was a clear 1 star. To be fair, I’ll average it out at 2 stars overall, but honestly, I wouldn’t recommend them unless you’re prepared for constant upselling and poor follow-through once you decline.
