Very reluctant to review but have decided I can't keep quiet any longer.*This experience actually took place in 2021, but Trustpilot’s date selector doesn’t allow me to choose earlier than 2024*I did a trial day with Rob back in 2021 to work at his kennels, I turned up and waited at the gate for 30-40 minutes with no reply to calls/texts. Finally Rob came out, explaining he'd had his dog Shep put down the night before.During the day me and Rob went out in the van with dogs loaded up in the back, we travelled a few hours, collecting some dogs en route. On the journey Rob proceeded to tell me details about his past and traumatic stories of his life, including that due to losing his dog he had contemplated taking his life the night prior and said he'd drunk a bottle of whiskey to numb the pain (he was driving the van at this point). On my first meeting with a man double my age at the time and in control of the vehicle we were in, I was understandably uncomfortable and concerned. We went to a field where we used slip collars and gave corrections to the dogs to get them to follow, I was told by Rob and another trainer we met that my corrections weren't "sharp" or "quick" enough to be effective. There was a Frenchie in attendance who had a limp, the dog wasn't allowed to engage in the training (as it shouldn't be if injured) but the owner had still paid for the day and "training".It was my job to walk the dogs on lead around the field to exercise them - there were 2 dobermans (a male and a female) belonging to one customer who had paid for residential - the owner paying thousands of pounds I believe Rob told me. The dogs had been left in the back of a van on the property overnight, the male dobie was very nervous and would bark, so rather than train him Rob put an "anti-bark" collar on him which I believe gave a shock due to the reaction of the dog. The dog cried in response which caused the shock again and the dog then urinated on itself. I felt sick to my stomach and got the dog out of the van and walked him as I didn't know what else to do.One of the vans needed decal work doing to it if I remember correctly, so Rob asked me to use my personal vehicle to drive us to collect the van, using my petrol which I was told would be reimbursed.I was supposed to be returning the next day, safe to say I didn't. Didn't receive promised payment for fuel or the trial day either. Please do your research when looking into ANY trainer for your dog.
