Our 12 year old German Shepherd has severe hip dysplasia, but is in overwise great health. She loves walks, but got to the point where she couldn't go for a walk, and she would lie around looking very unhappy. We looked into surgery, but the money is out of our budget range, so we tried the Ortho Dog brace about a month ago. I waited to write the review because at first she didn't really like it because it changed her gait. The first week, I would have given this product three stars. However, she knows the brace means a walk and that makes her happy. We started with very short walks where she would tire out and I thought I would have to carry her home at some points, but we kept at it. But the walks just keep getting longer and she is getting stronger and is much happier. Is this going to "fix" hip dysplasia? No, only surgery would do that. Keep your expectations realistic. For us, this brace has put the spark back in our dog. One month of use for us. Five stars.
