I signed up for a promotional 3 month membership with the Our Time dating website on December 11, 2024. I used the site for about a month. It is important to note that the regular rate for a 3 month subscription there is $74.97, which seems like a lot to me.Over the course of the month, I had minimal success, with relatively few matches in my area. And I live in Houston, with over 4 million people in the city and surrounding area! But I really started having a problem with the site when, after uploading 6 current or recent pictures of myself, I thought that it would add a bit of humor to add a picture of myself as a very young boy. So I did that, and labeled it something like, "If you were wondering what I looked like as a kid, here you go!" In short order, I had the picture taken down and a 1 out of 2 strikes notification that if I posted a picture of a minor again, I would be banned. The notification was clearly a form letter delivered by a computer bot reviewing the site. The notification cited one of their site rules:"Your content was removed due to:Photos of minors. Photos of minors are not permitted unless they are photos of your children where you are also in the picture"So, understanding that the bot crawling across the site probably didn't read my subtitle on the picture, I responded to that email with a request for further review. I cited the fact that the photo WAS IN FACT ME and I stated as much in the text under the photo, and so should be allowed per their own policy. I asked to have a human review this and get back to me with a human response, instead of another bot authored form letter. In short order, a bot named Luis B form lettered me a non-responsive response:"We have reviewed your account for a content removal appeal and have determined you have violated our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Your photo will remain removed from your profile, this decision is final.I understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for but we appreciate your cooperation in this matter."I wrote them a reply stating that "your review process completely failed to address the special circumstances I pointed out, and you then said the cyber equivalent of 'This matter is closed. Good day, sir!' I also explained that a business dedicated to the art of human connections should do a better job of responding like a human. I pointed out that they never indicated anywhere in their responses that they understood anything special about that photo.Their inevitable reply was another 'Good Day Sir' form letter like the last one.So I'm here to tell you, when it comes to dating websites, let the buyer beware. In my opinion, Our Time is not a good investment for the amount of money you must pay to use them, and with the way their customer service department (if you can call it that) responded to me, I cannot in good conscience recommend them. Good luck out there.
