My husband and i had a wonderful Classic Annapurna trek with Outfitter Himalaya. It was our first time to Nepal and the experience overall exceeded expectation in large part because of the high quality of service that was provided. From first contact with Arjun when enquiring about options Arjun was quick and thorough with his responses. As we prepared for the trek every question I sent was answered promptly and this gave us confidence in the company. This proved correct as every detail of the trip was smooth and handled with professionalism. From pick up at the airport, the standard of hotel in both Kathmandu and Pokhara, the day tour in Kathmandu with guide Sabita (who was very pleasant, knowledgeable, great English skills) to the trek itself. Our guide Saroj and porter Kuber were top notch. We had a lot of fun with them and felt safe and our needs were well cared for. They were reliable and trustworthy and nothing seemed a bother to them. Our guide made sure we knew what was coming up next and communicated clearly with us. We were very grateful for his expertise the very challenging day of the pass and his commitment to our safety. The quality of food at the tea houses was great and plentiful. Our guide and porter always provided us with a platter of freshly cut peeled fruit after dinner which was a kind touch that I didn’t notice groups from other companies receiving. The tea houses themselves varied a lot depending on what options were available but from what we observed we were mostly at places on the nicer end of the range. It’s important to have realistic expectations in terms of the type of accommodation tea houses provide. Every bed we slept on was comfortable which was a pleasant surprise to me! We used sleeping bags and duffle bags provided by the company. We were never cold in bed. Not every place had hot showers but there were enough that did - most had western style toilets- make sure you BYO toilet paper as this isn’t provided at any tea house. We got to observe lots of trekking groups along the way and could see the quality of guides varied considerably. We were very pleased with our choice of company, our guide and our porter and thoroughly recommend them to anyone wanting an amazing trek in the stunning and varied landscapes that the Annapurna circuit takes you through.
