OEO came highly recommended to me by a British friend in Spain. We were living in Ecuador at the time and looking to transition from the American IB system to the British system to help prepare our children ahead of our move to the UK. As all schools in Ecuador were online anyway (due to the pandemic), it was an easy decision for us to make. However soon after making the move, I regretted not making it earlier. OEO proved an instant success with our children (aged 13 and 12) and perhaps for the first time, they viewed learning in a completely different light. It became fun, relevant and rewarding. Prior to starting, they were both reluctant to change schools and were worried about missing their friends and being in a Zoom class on their own with a teacher (at the time, there were no other students in our timezone so all their lessons were one-on-one). Yet at the end of day one, they were both thanking me for making this decision for them, and were surprised by how much fun the lessons could be. We made sure their afternoons were filled with activities so that they could socialize with other children. It proved a good balance. All the teachers were excellent and succeeded in forming lovely relationships with our children. As a result they became more engaged and less afraid of asking questions and making mistakes. As parents, we also appreciated Sarah Bacon's wide experience in education (both inside and outside the UK), as well as her valuable advice and support. In short, I can't recommend OEO highly enough, either as a full-time school or for extra support in specific subjects. I also think it's a excellent option for expats who, like ourselves, get posted around the world and don't always have access to good schools in every posting.
